Clapping Sentences

Try giving children a fun challenge by giving them a sentence and having them clap once for every word in it! It's a great way to keep them engaged and having fun while learning.

Begin by having children practice clapping simple sentences using single-syllable words then progress to more difficult sentences with words that have more than one syllable. Children may find it a bit tricky to identify words with more than one syllable as a single word.

Two Into One

Tell the child two small words and challenge them to turn those two words into one big word!

Begin by first giving the shorter words in order, then mix things up a bit by giving the child the two words out of sequence.

Missing Words

Share a sentence with a child and then repeat it, but this time leaving out a word. Invite the child to figure out which word is missing.
